Aim: To learn the theory and practice of learner-centered approach

Participation Criteria: Participants willing to take part in globalization of education and FD, and recommended by their faculty

Capacity: About 30

Program:

Ⅰ.Course Design Workshop: Morning, March 3rd – March 6th

Ⅱ.Microteaching                   :   Afternoon, March 3rd – March 6th

※Divided into groups A and B, schedule for each :

Group A: March 3rd and 5th 
Group B: March 4th and 6th

Award of Certificate: All the participants would receive Certificate of Completion after completing the program.

 

Notes:

※Participants should attend both the programs I and II of the above.

※If the number of applicants exceeds the capacity, participants will be decided by the TLSC members.

※Schedule of part II: The schedule of Microteaching would be decided by the TLSC members, considering the balance between majors and affiliations of the participants.

Detailed Program:

Ⅰ. Course Design Workshop

Schedule: Morning of each day, 10:00-13:00

          Monday, March 3rd: Course content
          Tuesday, March 4th: Learning Outcomes
          Wednesday, March 5th: Instructional strategies
          Thursday, March 6th: Assessment methods & Next Steps

Participants would create the syllabus of their course according to each day’s theme.  They also receive lectures given by the FD instructor on each day’s theme. The participants are expected to actively take part in the pair work and group discussions.

 

Ⅱ. Microteaching

Schedule for classes: 14:00-17:00 (Group A or Group B)

                  Group A: March 3rd  ・5th

                  Group B: March 4th ・6th

The participants of the Workshop are divided into two groups and each group practices microteaching twice on alternate days. During microteaching each participant gives a 5-minute lecture about his/her course, and receives comments and feedback from the instructor and other participants about their style of lecturing and presentation, not about the contents of the lecture. The microteaching is video-recorded, and each participant can keep a copy of it. The participants are expected to watch the video of their first microteaching, find out the areas of improvement, and prepare for the second microteaching based on the feedback and comments.
